# Khata on iPhone and Android: what is the same, and what is not

The short answer: it is the same app. Same features, same data, same price, and the same account signs in on either. If you are choosing a phone for the counter, the app is not the deciding factor — the hardware is, and this article is mostly about that.

### What is genuinely identical

- Billing, including completing a sale with no connection and syncing afterwards.
- The khata — the running balance per customer, and the reminders you send against it.
- Stock, purchase orders, and the cost and margin per item.
- Staff logins and per-module permissions, so a cashier sees no margins on either platform.
- All the reports, and the daily closing reconciliation.
- The price, which is nothing, on both.

### The three places the platforms differ

None of these is a difference in the app. All three are the phone underneath it, which is why the answer for your shop depends on the handset you already own.

**If you already own the printer, test it first.** Bluetooth thermal printers are the one place a platform choice can genuinely go wrong, and it is about the printer's own firmware rather than about Khata. Pair it and print one bill before you commit a counter to a new phone.

### Two counters, two phones, one shop

Nothing stops you mixing. A common arrangement is the owner on whichever phone they already carry and a cheap dedicated Android on the counter, both signed into the same business, with the counter device on a staff login so it cannot see margins.
