# Acceptable Use Policy

What Khata may and may not be used for, what happens if the rules are broken, and how to appeal a decision.

Version 1.0, effective 2026-08-06. Reference LSK-LEGAL-ACCEPTABLE-USE-V1.0.

## At a glance

This is a reading aid, not the agreement. The clauses below are.

- Use Khata to run your own business. That is what it is for.
- Do not use it for anything unlawful, or to attack, scrape or overload the service.
- Do not use it to build a competing product, or to hold data you have no right to hold.
- We suspend rather than delete first where we can, and you can appeal.

## 1. Scope

1.1 This policy applies to everyone using Khata, including staff accounts created by a business owner.

1.2 It expands on section 5 of the Terms of Use. Where the two differ, the Terms govern.

1.3 **(important)** If you create staff logins, you are responsible for their conduct under this policy.

## 2. Intended Use

2.1 Khata is for recording and managing your own business activity: billing, customer and supplier ledgers, stock, expenses, staff and reporting.

2.2 You may use it across your own devices and for the staff of your business. There is no per-device limit and no licence key.

## 3. Unlawful and Harmful Use

3.1 You must not use Khata:

  - For any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any applicable local, national or international law.
  - To record or facilitate fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, or the sale of goods you are not lawfully permitted to sell.
  - To store data about people that you have no lawful basis to hold.
  - To harass, threaten, defame or impersonate anyone.

3.2 **(important)** Khata records what you enter. It does not verify your transactions, and using it does not make an unlawful transaction lawful.

## 4. Technical Misuse

4.1 You must not:

  - Interfere with, probe or compromise the integrity or security of the service, or decipher transmissions to or from its servers, other than as permitted under the Security & Disclosure policy.
  - Access data or accounts that are not yours.
  - Scrape, harvest or bulk-extract data, including account names or other users' information.
  - Upload malware, or content designed to disrupt the service or other users' devices.
  - Place unreasonable load on the service, or automate access in a way that degrades it for others.
  - Access the service by means other than the apps and interfaces we provide.

4.2 **(important)** Good-faith security research conducted within the Security & Disclosure policy is welcome and is not a breach of this section.

## 5. Commercial Misuse

5.1 You must not resell, rent, sublicense or redistribute Khata, or offer it to third parties as your own service.

5.2 You must not use Khata, or information obtained from it, to build, train, assist or enhance a competing product.

5.3 You must not remove or alter proprietary notices or branding. See License & Conduct for the full licence terms.

## 6. What Happens If You Breach This Policy

6.1 Our response is proportionate to the breach. Where we reasonably can, we contact you first and ask you to fix it.

6.2 **(important)** Where the breach is serious or ongoing — active abuse, an attack on the service, or unlawful activity — we may suspend access immediately and without notice.

6.3 **(important)** Where we suspend an account, we aim to preserve your business records so they can be exported, unless we are legally required to do otherwise. Suspension is not intended to hold your data hostage.

6.4 Repeated or deliberate breaches may result in permanent termination under the Terms of Use.

## 7. Appealing a Decision

7.1 If your access is restricted and you believe it was wrong, write to support@lacspace.com. Say what happened and what you think we got wrong.

7.2 A person will review it. We will tell you the outcome and the reason for it.

7.3 You may request an export of your business records while an appeal is in progress.

## 8. Reporting Abuse

8.1 To report someone misusing Khata, contact support@lacspace.com. To report a security vulnerability, use security@lacspace.com instead so it reaches the right people quickly.
