# Udhaar ageing calculator

A free browser tool. Enter what each customer owes and since when, and it
splits the total into 0-30, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+ day buckets, gives the
amount-weighted average age, and drafts a polite reminder in English,
Hindi or Nepali ready to send on WhatsApp.

Everything is computed in the browser. No data is sent to any server, and
entries are kept only in that device's local storage.

## What ageing is

Ageing sorts receivables by how long they have been owed rather than by
who owes them. The total says how big the credit book is; the ageing says
whether it is healthy. The same amount spread over three weeks and sitting
past ninety days are two completely different situations.

## What each bucket means

- **0-30 days** — ordinary trading credit. No action needed.
- **31-60 days** — where the habit forms. One friendly reminder is usually the whole intervention.
- **61-90 days** — ask for a date rather than a payment, and stop extending further credit on that account.
- **Over 90 days** — treat as at risk. A part payment agreed now beats the full amount promised indefinitely.

## The number to watch

The amount-weighted average age, not the total. A flat total with a rising
average age means new credit is being collected while old credit rots —
a pattern that is effectively invisible on a paper bahi.
